The world-famous porcelain manufactory is the oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe and is one of the most important sights in Meissen.
The Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen is the birthplace and production site of Meissen porcelain. The trademark of this famous German luxury brand are the crossed spa swords.
Always worth a visit is the porcelain museum, which was opened in 1916 and is also located in the building. Every year more than 300,000 visitors from all over the world flock to the Meissen State Porcelain Manufactory to admire the precious porcelain and take a look behind the scenes. Visitors to the museum can admire an impressive collection of Meissen porcelain from three centuries in the show hall. The show hall with its valuable historical interior decoration provides the perfect setting for the exhibition of the 300-year-old craft. It was built in the style of a neoclassical festival hall and is still preserved in its original form today. A further highlight are the show workshops where guests can look over the shoulders of the craftsmen and artists producing Meissen porcelain. Those who want to take some of this impressive craftsmanship home with them can purchase a piece of porcelain art in the in-house store.
After an eventful tour of the museum, guests can review what they have seen while enjoying a delicious meal in the associated MEISSEN Café & Restaurant. The dishes are served on Meissen porcelain.
