Timepieces, concave mirrors, globes, land surveying instruments and much more - the Royal Cabinet of Mathematical and Physical Instruments is a mixture of physics laboratory and treasure chamber. Founded by Augustus the Strong in 1724, the salon served the electors and kings not so much for collecting select instruments, but rather for their research, further development and utilization. The watch industry in Glashütte has its starting point here, as does the TU Dresden.
