One of the most precious collections of ceremonial weapons and costumes in the world.
The ruling Wettin family resided in Dresden Castle for exactly 433 years - and did very little cleaning out during that time. That's why the Dresden Armoury still has armor from Albrecht the Brave, who founded the ducal armory in 1485. Even garden tools and ivory works turned by Elector George himself are among the exhibits. Most magnificent are the life-size carved horses on which knights in full armor compete in tournaments. Most fabulous are the dark rooms of the Turkish Chamber - the precious textiles such as the Ottoman ceremonial tent cannot stand any light. An ingenious lighting concept created the atmosphere of an army camp at night.
