One of the most beautiful opera houses in the world.
The Semperoper Dresden was built by Gottfried Semper in 1841 in the neo-Renaissance style. It burned down twice: shortly after its construction in 1869 and during the Second World War. In 1985, it was reopened with Carl Maria von Weber's "Freischütz" - in memory of the famous Dresden court conductor. Since 2012, star conductor Christian Thielemann has led the Sächsische Staatskapelle - the orchestra of the house. The program includes operas, ballets, concerts and, last but not least, the SemperOpernball.
